Johnny Markin releases his latest single 'Light of Day' on July 2nd. 'Light of Day' is the title track from Johnny’s comeback album. Meshing energetic guitar and synth hooks with a driving rhythm, the song explores the trials of walking through the darker seasons of life, buoyed by the hope of trusting God’s never-failing promises.
The song reunites Johnny with long-time colleagues Cory Knowland on bass (Restore My Soul) and Suzanne Thiessen on vocals (No Frontiers). Inspired by the long days of lockdown our world has had to endure, the song offers up a prayer that we might be able to lean on Jesus through challenging times as we await to emerge from the dark night of the soul into the glorious Light Of Day!
Rooted in his guitar-driven compositions that explore life through the lens of his Christian faith, this Covenant Award nominated singer/songwriter has engaged audiences for more than three decades. This comeback release brings together threads from Johnny's diverse musical past. Ancient creeds, texts, and Scripture are set to 21st Century musical genres for this 'lockdown liturgy' project in Johnny's unique, guitardriven style.
High-energetic praise meets contemplation and hints of Gospel and Blues. Featuring the guest production of Award-winning artists/producer Ryan McAllister (Dakona, Tim & The Glory Boys) and a host of international artists from across Johnny's years of music-making! You are the way and the truth and the light King of all kings and the Lord of light Releasing July 2nd
Johnny began his recording and touring career with the Vancouver-based band “Titus” in 1985, recording at Little Mountain Studios. He transplanted to the U.K. in 1988, where he recorded 5 albums for ICC Records (UK) before a change of career brought him back to Canada in 2000, where he applied his musical gifts leading songs of worship in his local church setting. Following the instrumental release “Acoustic Hymns Project” (2009), he has recently garnered GoFundMe support to record and release a new original work of his own compositions, a much-anticipated comeback album called Light Of Day, setting ancient creeds and texts of Scripture to musical styles that reflect the wide breadth of Johnny’s journey.
