Standing Phase have released their new single 'Learning Still', available now on all streaming platforms.
Bringing their own unique blend of soul with funky undertones and gospel influences, Standing Phase (formerly The Woodville) consists of core members singer/songwriter Charly Jay-Wood and guitarist/co-writer Luis Wood.
Charly started her musical career playing saxophone and flute in a number of different jazz/funk bands. She didn’t originally set out to be a singer, but as the lyrics started to flow, she put voice to the melodies and quickly found herself emerging as lead vocalist and songwriter.
Whilst living in New Zealand she joined forces with guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Luis as co-writer and they formed The Woodville band together. Back in Brighton, UK they worked with acclaimed producer/pianist Mark Edwards (Katie Melua, Carleen Anderson) and renowned drummer Troy Miller (Diana Ross, Gregory Porter) on the singles ‘Fade Away’ and ‘Always’.
They are delighted this new collaboration as Standing Phase sees them working with innovative producer/drummer Josh Gale (Single Ruin). They are currently in the studio recording their debut album.
