The final bow from Yfriday comes in this amazing double album, Everlasting God - The Very Best of Yfriday which is packed full to the rafters with a crazy 28 tracks spanning over seventeen years, yes that's right seventeen years.
The album draws from the band's whole career, from the early years of working with British Youth For Christ, hosting monthly outreach events in their home town of Newcastle, to touring over the world.
All the Yfriday classic are here, including the anthemic Rise, Revolutions, Joy and crowd favorite Holy, Holy, Holy. The album also contains the powerful worship songs Thank You...

The album also contains the powerful worship songs Thank You For The Cross, Come Let Us Worship and Everlasting God which is a track that is sung by Christians all over all the world and became one of the top twenty most played songs in the USA. Ken Riley, the frontman of YFriday, became the first Christian artist to receive and ASCAP award for his co-write with Brenton Brown on that song.
For me personally, Yfriday have been a sound track since my teenage years. The first time I saw the band at Spring Harvest was many moons ago where they were leading worship in the youth venue. During the mornings the room would split into small groups of around 10-15 people and each would have a small group leader. As a teenage group we ended up having Yfriday drummer Dez Minto as our leader for the week, he was a genuine guy and cared about every one of us in his small group and our own personal faiths in Jesus.
While listening to this album, it's amazing to hear so many great songs, from the older songs to the tracks from their wonderful last studio album Great & Glorious. Throw in some live versions of the classic tracks and what you have is a perfect greatest hits, picking the standout tracks for this review isn't going to be easy.
For me Yfriday songs will always mean a lot, and I have enjoyed each album as they have come out through the years, I am sad to see these great guys hang up their instruments, and I wish them all the success in whatever God calls them to do next.
What I want to say to Yfriday is, thank you. Thank you for leading us in times of amazing, powerful, honest worship. Thank you for these songs, they have been simply wonderful and a personal soundtrack to my life.
