Brian Doerksen Releases Power Ballad 'A Love That Doesn't Fade'
Who doesn’t love a good power ballad? That’s what Brian Doerksen’s new single 'A Love That Doesn't Fade' delivers in a song about long love even in our brokenness. The single follows recent release 'We're Not Alone', both taken from his upcoming new album, 'Love For A Lifetime'.
“I’ve been incredibly blessed and fortunate to be happily married for 40 years. The secret to long love isn’t found in being flawless; we are all broken. It’s choosing to be the kind of partner that fills the inevitable cracks with grace. That’s why the chorus of ‘A Love That Doesn’t Fade’ starts with these words; ‘Oh to know the love that fills the cracks with golden grace’. And that’s why the artwork for each of the singles from my upcoming ‘Love For A Lifetime’ album feature kintsugi lines. Kintsugi is the beautiful art form where the jagged lines of brokenness in an object are traced and filled with gold representing the way love heals.
Like all good power ballads, this one starts with piano and vocal and keeps on building until you sense the epic guitar solo that’s coming (played by award winning producer Murray Pulver) and then it’s into a key change for the final chorus, the lyric subtly shifting into ‘Oh we know the love . . .’ I’ve written and recorded these ‘long love’ songs because Joyce and I have shared a way of life together. It may look ordinary, but it’s a beautiful kind of ordinary. There’s nothing left to prove and yet decades later, the passion remains. I hope this song inspires you and reminds you that long love is alive and possible in our world.”
