Ruth A Harris Addresses Anxiety With New Song 'Settle'
Ruth A Harris, from Birmingham, UK, has released 'Settle', her first release in 2025, following on from the brutally honestly titled 'I'm a Mess' in the Autumn of 2024.
This new song, out now on all streaming platforms, addresses the very familiar feeling of anxiety and the need to find a way to 'Settle' in that place. Indeed, Ruth does not sugar coat the reality of experiencing anxiety, rather she effectively and poetically takes the listener on a journey through it.
She writes, "This song, is essentially a personal prayer, a cry for help and perspective in the middle of consuming anxiety. Being a person of faith does not mean that we find life easy, or that we will never encounter anxiety inducing circumstances and phases of life. Reminding myself that it doesn’t all depend on me helps me in those moments. I hope that “Settle†resonates, breaks down some silent barriers & that people feel seen and not alone in their anxiety. Anxiety is something that we all can face, it’s how we handle it that counts."
Ruth describes herself as a “late bloomer†having only begun her journey back into music in the last 4 years. As a singer, songwriter and producer of ethereal and sometimes cinematic music, Ruth often presents raw, vulnerable and relatable lyrics in a quirky and magnetic manner.
She says "Songwriting has become a way for me to process the events of life, and has been my ‘go to‘ in some personally difficult times. Authenticity, honesty and being able to communicate that well is important to me, so I aim for everything I produce to be real, and full of tangible emotion. I hope that others can also relate to the results from my jumbled processing, and find some hope and encouragement; and know they are not alone in the way they feel."
