Casting Crowns Win Their Second American Music Award
Casting Crowns won their second American Music Award last night, 20th November 2011. The band had been nominated in the 'Contemporary Inspirational Music Favorite Artist' category alongside TobyMac and Third Day, with the winners being determined by online voting from fans.
The winners were announced during the live awards ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, broadcast by ABC television. This was the second year in a row that Casting Crowns had been nominated for the award and their sixth career nomination. Last year the award went to MercyMe.
Last night the band expressed their delight on twitter, saying "A big thanks to all our fans voting CastingCrowns to our second career American Music Award win tonight!" Lead singer Mark Hall added "We found out walking on the stage in Estero Florida that we won the AMA! So cool! Thank you so much for all who helped us get there!"
Casting Crowns released their new studio album 'Come To The Well' last month, with the album landing at number 2 in the overall Billboard 200 album chart with an extraordinary 99,138 sales in it's release week, only beaten by Adele's '21' album that week.
