New Album For Rend Collective Experiment 'Homemade Worship By Handmade People'
Rend Collective Experiment will release their second album 'Homemade Worship By Handmade People' on 9th January 2012 in the UK and 10th January in the US. The album was recorded and produced by the Northern Ireland worship band in church halls and homes in their organic, collective style and fuses a depth of sung theology and fresh melodies that reflect themes of redemption, devotion and celebration with soundscapes that span from Arcade Fire and Mumford & Sons to Fleet Foxes and Snow Patrol.
"Things that are homemade demand so much more time and love than something made from a factory, yet they are always worth it; the quality and uniqueness are what is beautiful," explains Rend Collective drummer, Gareth Gilkeson. "We refused to make an album in a studio separate from our normal lives. Humanity and the Divine are what we are celebrating here... We hope you like what we have made!"
The eleven track new album includes songs like 'Build Your Kingdom Here' and the first radio single 'Second Chances' which will have a music video premiering on YouTube on 26th December ahead of the single's February release. Also included on the album is the band's contemporary new recording of the famous hymn, 'Be Thou My Vision', which has proved popular during the band's live shows this year.
The CD jacket for 'Homemade Worship By Handmade People' will contain an "I'm part of the collective" poster-fold where fans are encouraged to upload an image onto the band's website. The band will also ask people to join in the collective conversation by submitting videos, with the featuring launching on their website in December with videos from Francis Chan and Tim Hughes.
Rend Collective Experiment will be promoting the new album on both sides of the Atlantic, with three UK dates prior to the release in Edinburgh (5th January), Belfast (6th) and London (7th). The band will then embark on the 30-city Rock & Worship Roadshow across the USA, kicking off on 26th January in Mississippi and continuing into March, alongside artists including MercyMe, Tenth Avenue North, Lecrae, Disciple, Hawk Nelson and Sidewalk Prophets.
The band's debut album 'Organic Family Hymnal' (2010), resulted in a viral iPhone worship video, UK tours with Francis Chan and Shane Claibourne, and a US tour with Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio.
