Owl City Confirms 'The Midsummer Station World Tour' Including Five New UK Dates

Jul 13 2012

Owl City, who release new album 'The Midsummer Station' on 14th August 2012, has extended its forthcoming World Tour with five UK dates, plus a European leg visiting France, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Holland.

The UK release date for the album had originally been set for September, a month after the worldwide release date, but writing on Twitter yesterday Owl City's Adam Young revealed that the UK date has now been brought forward, saying "UK! I heard you weren't too happy about having to wait for The Midsummer Station. Well now you can get it on 8/20. Let the countdown begin!"

Owl City's 'The Midsummer Station World Tour' has already kicked off in North America and will briefly visit Europe at the end of July with dates in Denmark (31st July), Germany (1st & 2nd August), Netherlands (4th) and King's College London, UK (6th). The tour then returns to the US and Canada in September, two weeks after the album release, before coming back to Europe in October.

Kicking off at the Forum in London on 25th October 2012, the UK dates continue in Birmingham (26th), Glasgow (28th), Manchester (30th) and Oxford (31st).

New album 'The Midsummer Station' includes recent radio single 'Shooting Star' and Adam Young says, "I feel like I'm in my groove more than ever and I'm more excited about my upcoming record than I've ever been about any other record before. I used to hate listening to my own music because all I wanted to do was reverse time and go back into the studio to turn up this track or to add more compression to that part or whatever. It wasn't massive brushstrokes but it was always something and it bummed me out big time.

With this record I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and listen without holding it in because I've finally figured out how to let the music play, let the music exist, to listen with a new frame of reference, and now that I can do that, I am floored - because I'm so unbelievably proud of what I'm hearing. I've never made a record that gave me goosebumps because it made me feel, really feel something. But this one does that to me because it's so different and new. It's the embodied belief of an artist who believes he should never repeat himself or look back - but to create in the moment and to do things that make him feel infinite."
