British singer/songwriter Helen Sanderson-White, who recently released the single 'I Need A Hallelujah' with dance music producer Nikki Noodles, has released a new EP titled 'Sirens And Other Mysteries'.
Helen explains "Last year I returned to the studio with Sound Consultancy, the team behind artists like the Daughters of Davis and Philippa Hanna. The result is 'Sirens and other Mysteries', a brand-new six-track EP. The team have really pushed me forwards, and helped me create what I believe is my best collection of songs yet!"

The result is 'Sirens and other Mysteries', a brand-new six-track EP. The team have really pushed me forwards, and helped me create what I believe is my best collection of songs yet!"
Some funky guitars kick off the sound of opening track 'Without You'. By the time you get into the jazz style music the warm vocals of Helen Sanderson White emerge. I love the soft style to this song, Helen's vocals really work poetically with the music, which has a wonderful guitar tone throughout.
One of the many plus points of this EP is Helen's vocals. She has a really beautiful tone to her voice, rich and silky, that works nicely with the mid tempo songs. Just listen to the beautiful 'If That's The Way', with it's chorus of "Oh Oh you see far beyond where I stand, Oh Oh and how it all fits in your plan", it sounds so effortless, and isn't that what great vocalists do?
The album then moves into the track 'All These Chains', which is on the more reflective side of music. I actually thought Helen sounded a lot like Lou Fellingham on this track. In the chorus Helen hits some wonderful high notes with class and grace. Not many singers will be able to sing these notes and make them sound as sophisticated as Helen has done. As the song continues, it builds with more and more instruments being added to the mix, adding great layers and getting stronger as it continues.
I'll Be With You (The Wedding Song) does what the title says. It's a song about marriage. Again this is a mellow, even lullaby style of song. Range of Sight, which opens up with a piano, sounds much more classical or like a theatre song from a big play. There is a classy style to this track, which shows that Helen can sing great, intimate, powerful storytelling songs.
The album ends on the up with When The Time Comes, again showing how great a vocalist Helen is. As a collection of songs, Helen has produce an EP that is well worth checking out. If you're a fan of vocalists like Nikki Hopkins or Lou Fellingham, then this new EP by Helen Sanderson White is one for you. Helen has a sophisticated, warm, wonderful tone to her voice that is worth checking out no matter what style of music you like. This is one gem of a CD.
