Tanya Godsey Releasing 'We Are Your Song' From Forthcoming Album
Singer-songwriter, speaker and worship leader Tanya Godsey, whose artistry occupies the space somewhere between the sincerity of Sara Groves and the passion of Bethel Music’s Steffany Gretzinger, independently releases 'We Are Your Song' June 10 to digital retail outlets internationally.
Produced by Ben Shive (Colony House, Rend Collective, JJ Heller, Mercy Me), this is the first single from her third independent, full-length album, Love Lines The Last Horizon, slated to release September 30.
Born as an anthemic, celebratory answer to prayer, Godsey says, “‘We Are Your Song’ is my unapologetic protest to the darkness, the sadness and the injustice of this world. It is a soundtrack of celebration for those of us who need to be reminded that in the eyes of the Father we are loved, remembered and His.
“Psalm 145:9 tells us ‘The LORD is good to all, and His mercy is over all that he has made,’” continues Godsey. “The Master orchestrator of all things, all powerful, present and knowing, is also a loving Father who holds all creation and even us, together.”
“‘We Are Your Song’ poses as pop, but at its heart it's a lush poem about God as the masterful orchestrator of everything,” adds Shive, who calls the upcoming album from Godsey “a brave work from a great artist.”
Leading worship at a recent If: Gathering event, Godsey heard the story of how International Justice Mission changes and saves lives. Profoundly moved by the story, she decided to donate all her proceeds from her new single to this organization.
“The International Justice Mission so courageously reflects the meaning of ‘We Are Your Song’ as they work so passionately to love and care for people all over the world,” says Godsey. “My heart was pierced as I listened to the way in which they champion the Gospel in so many countries. It's my great joy and honor to have all of my proceeds from this single donated to furthering their worthy mission as they protest the darkness all around the world.”
