Kendall Payne Putting Finishing Touches To 'Wounds to Scars'
Kendall Payne reports that she has just finished recording her latest album. "The mixes are almost finalized and it should be only a month or so before you hear from me again saying 'It's Ready!'", says Kendall.
The album, produced by Charlie Peacock, is provisionally titled 'Wounds to Scars' and is inspired by the lyrics of one of the songs on the album that says, "We never know what's gonna make us into the people that we are. Can't tell the toll that it will take on us, until the wounds have turned to scars."
"I think it sums up the whole record pretty well" explains Kendall. "Because each song is about the process of life and love, how it can sometimes wound us. And we have to be patient with our healing and finally one day a scar will emerge. Not sure if you know this or not, but scar tissue is actually stronger than the original skin- and that inspires me with hope that the hurts we carry can actually make us stronger... in a theoretical/singer/songwriter sort of way! And I must say, it really is the coolest record I've ever made! I am so excited to let you hear it!"
Kendall has toured with the likes of Dido, Third Day, and Delirious? and she won the Dove Award for Modern Rock Album of the Year for her debut album 'Jordan's Sister' (1999). Since then she has released 'Grown' (2004) and 'Paper Skin' (2007) and had her music used in films ('Never Been Kissed'), and TV shows, including her song 'Supermodels' which was the theme song for teen show 'Popular' and several songs on 'Grey's Anatomy'.
