UK Worship Leader Ian Yates To Release 'Mystery'

Mar 23 2020

Ian Yates, a Christian worship leader and songwriter from Liverpool, UK, releases his fifth album 'Mystery' on 3rd April 2020. Yates wrestles with the mysteries of life, loss, disappointment, grief, and faith whilst trying to embrace the tensions surrounding us.

Musically, this is a more stripped back, intimate sounding release, creating space for rest and contemplation, with the key theme being that God is with us in the mystery, the unknowing and the asking of big questions. Many have become distracted by the noise, the chaos and paradoxes all around us. Through these songs, Yates longs for the return to simple and authentic adoration.

Yates says "Some of the songs are for believers and leaders who have been serving and sowing for many, many years. For those who may have grown tired or a little cynical through the challenges of life. My prayer is that these songs bring hope, peace and lead us to the heart of worship and wonder."

Ian has again teamed up with producer Trevor Michael (Snow Patrol, Matt Redman, Martin Smith) for what 7Core Music believes to be an album full of depth and maturity that will speak to hearts, souls and minds, proving Ian Yates to be one of the UK’s greatest worship wordsmiths.

September 2016 saw the release of Ian's 4th album, (his 3rd on 7Core Music) 'Awaken To Love' to rave reviews, and included ‘No Longer I’ co-written with Matt Redman, and the UK Step Fwd chart number 1 single ‘High Wire’.

It was followed up in 2019 with his 'Deconstruction vol. 1' mini album which contained the singles 'Blackout', "Belly Of The Beast', 'Hope Beyond Hope' and 'Deconstruction' all of which proved popular on various Spotify editorial playlists and gained radio airplay across many stations in the UK, USA and Australia. ‘Belly Of The Beast’ and ‘Hope Beyond Hope’ both received 10/10 reviews from Tony Cummings at UK’s Cross Rhythms. Hope Beyond Hope featured in CCM Magazine’s ‘Best Thing I Heard Today’ in the USA, while ‘Deconstruction’ featured in Spotify’s official ‘New Indie and Alternative’ playlist.
