The title of my latest review The Best Hymns Album in the World... Ever might send a fear down your spine. It might bring up images of old big churches with even older people singing boring Hymns that nobody understand the words to as it's in a language we don't use on a daily basis. It might bring up images of old big churches with even older people singing boring Hymns that nobody understand the words to as it's in a language we don't use on a daily basis. However, what this album delivers is fifty of the most stirring hymns ever written, from Amazing Grace to When I Survey and everything in between.
I personally was surprised with how many of these songs I knew. I have never been to a church that lends itself to worship with these kind of songs, yet over the years I must of picked up, in school or while visiting other churches, some of them. But what I also found were tracks I have never heard, yet when played to some older people in our church, a smile and glee came over their faces, remembering the times when God moved in their worship services while singing these powerful hymns.
No matter what style of music you use to worship, these vintage classics are just that... classics. They have inspired people to be History Makers, to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. These songs are soaked in truth and do deliver inspiration and understanding to the listener.
The church might have moved on musically, yet we can take the depth of understanding from these songs and use it in our own worship. What this collection of hymns does is lead us in worship and as all new worship compilations do, take us closer to God.
