Hawk Newlson have put together a crazy number of tracks for their best-of album, cleverly titled 'The Songs You've Already Heard'. Fifteen best-of tracks to be precise. And for anybody who doesn't own a Hawk Nelson album, this could be the perfect album to pick up.
Earlier this year lead vocalist Jason Dunn announced he would be leaving the band, in order to pursue a solo career. Hawk Nelson have indicated that they will continue as a band, with guitarist Jonathan Steingard taking over the lead vocals following Jason's departure.

In a strange way, with band members moving on for solo careers, this really is a great album to finish the current iteration of the band. Everything after this is basically for me, Hawk Nelson Mark II. I'm sure they will come back with some great new songs, but for now let's look at this album that shows off Hawk Nelson Mark I and what they managed to produce in their amazing career.
The Grammy nominated band have released five studio albums over the past seven years with their songs appearing on TV shows such as NBC's drama 'American Dreams', Nickelodeon film 'Yours, Mine, & Ours', as well as NBC's Stanley Cup promo spots, American Music Awards promotions, Nike NFL promotions and NBC Summer Olympic spots.
To be fair to the band, the whole album oozes Hawk Nelson at their best, with what we have come to love about them. From big guitars and punk rock indie tones. If you have grown up with this band then each track will bring back great memories, as all greatest hits do. But for me, as a casual listener of this band, I realise how many great tunes this band has actually produced. This collection is kind of perfect for someone like me.
As the album title says, this isn't anything new, they are all songs you have heard before (if you're a fan!), but they're songs you want to listen to again and again, hearing what the band count as their best on one very long CD. Full of hit after hit, this album shows the world that Hawk Nelson are a great band who produced top quality songs that their fans adore.
