The nominations for the UK's 2016 MOBO Awards were revealed yeterday (September 21) at Ronnie Scotts in London. In the Best Gospel Act category, popular Christian rapper Guvna B is again nominated, and is joined by Volney Morgan & New-Ye, Sarah Teibo, S.O and Andrew Bello.

The MOBO Awards show takes place on Friday, November, led by Kano and Laura Mvula, who are up for four MOBO Awards.

Guvna B won his first MOBO Award in 2010 and made history in 2013 when he become the first urban artist to top the UK's Official Christian & Gospel Albums Chart. He has worked with highly acclaimed artists such as Matt Redman, Hillsong Music, Destiny Child’s Michelle Williams, LZ7, Nick Brewer, Jocelyn Brown, Keisha Buchanan, Deitrick Haddon and more. He has shared stages with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Wetch 32, Kirk Franklin and Lecrae plus his story was shared with many in March 2015 when he appeared in nationwide music magazine ‘Music Week’. In addition to performances at The O2 Arena and Wembley, thousands in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australasia and North America have witnessed his performances along with full band and DJ.

S.O. created a huge buzz in the Christian hip-hop community with the release of the 5 Solas mixtape in 2009. The project is also what caught the ears of executives at Lamp Mode, which led to S.O. signing with the label. Andrew Bello is an exciting, multi-award winning Afrobeats artist and an ambassador of Contemporary Afro Gospel music in the UK.

Though a new comer to the scene, Sarah Teibo is gradually becoming highly sought after in UK Gospel following the release of her debut album 'Walk With Me' this year.

Volney Morgan & New-Ye are recognized in the Gospel world for their dynamic stage presence and remembered for their unified voices when ministering for the Kingdom. With their 2015 EP Pick Up The Pieces still on rotation, plus winning Choir of the Year at Premier Gospel Awards, the director topped it all when his choir performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the 2016 BBC Gospel Proms.
