Multi-Instrumentalist Luke Franks' 'We Live' Project Releasing 'Trust In You'

Mar 22 2017

Alabama-based multi-instrumentalist Luke Franks is releasing his new single 'Trust In You', under the artist name We Live, this Friday. We Live is a worship project inspired by boundary pushers like Citizens & Saints, John Mark Mcmillan, Kings Kaleidoscope and Gungor.

The new single has indie, rock and electronic elements with complex harmonies and intricate arrangements. Lyrically it's about trusting God even when we don't understand why he's doing what he's doing because he said in Isaiah "...so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

When Luke first arrived in lower Alabama in 2011, he told his dad, who had recently become the Pastor of The Island Church in Orange Beach, AL, that he didn't want to be in the worship band. He didn't want to be the"pastors kid". He just wanted to be in church. That didn't last long because about 6 months later there was a tragedy in the church and Luke told his dad he'd do whatever he could to help. He's been leading worship and writing songs for the church under the We Live moniker ever since.

When Luke moved to the gulf coast in 2011 he had already released 6 solo albums and 3 albums with his band The Federalists who were signed to the now defunct Talking House Records. The original plan was to finish an album and use Alabama as a home base to tour from. But, as Luke took on responsibilities at the church his focus turned from writing, recording and touring to learning about the roll of a worship pastor and the theology of worship. After a couple years at the church he started writing what would become We Live's EP01.

Luke plays every instrument, sings every part, records, mixes and masters every We Live song. The only guest so far has been samples of his grandpa, Pastor Fred Franks Sr. preaching. His newest song "Trust In You" kicks off his current approach of releasing singles instead of albums.
