Interview: Heart Worship
Heart Worship is a new sound of modern worship emerging from Heart Church Nottingham, UK. Louder Than The Music chatted with Worship Pastor Gideon Akpovi about the group's new single 'Still God (Through It All)' and the inspiration behind it.
For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourselves and how you got involved in making music?
We are Heart Worship, the worship ministry of Heart Church Nottingham, UK. Our heart is to write songs that are God inspired and impact our church community first and foremost. The songs we write are often inspired by what God is doing in our community and in the lives of individuals within it..
Tell us about your new single 'Still God' and what the inspiration behind it was?
Still God (Through It All) is an honest song inspired by a testimony from an individual in our church family. This lady had been through a horrendous fire accident when she was younger and told her inspiring story about how she found a place of worship even through that.
Needless to say that the past 18 months for many of us has seemed like a fire. A time of confusion, uncertainty and anxiousness. Many have lost loved ones, jobs and more. This song has been an anthem for our church these past few months and now we want to share it with the world. Our hope is that as it has led us to a place of worship, it will lead others too.
Do you have plans to release more new music soon?
Yes. We are hoping to continue to release more music this year and beyond so please stay tuned!
What message would you like people to take from your music?
We have a great team of writers who write about different things but our hope is that every song we release would lead people to a place of worship. Helping people see beyond their situation and see God.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
Our songs would fit within a tradition Christian Contemporary congregational style but with new and fresh styles inspired by different genres.
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
Success for us is writing songs that minister to our church community first and foremost but then go out to impact people around the world.
What does the next year hold for you?
We hope to write and release some new music! Stay tuned.
