Interview: Caspar McCloud Band
Pastor Caspar McCloud and Renae Truex, from the Caspar McCloud Band, chat with Louder Than The Music's Dave about their brand new album, 'Beyond Magnificent'.
Hi Pastor Caspar, and Renae, So you're back with another new album release with your band, Beyond Magnificent. First up, what does the album title refer to, and why did you decide to name the album that?
Renae - No matter what types of trials and tribulations that we may be facing in daily life and the darkness that surrounds us, we need to remember that our Lord God Almighty has control over all things. This album speaks multitudes about this. We are truly blessed to be able to deliver this message to the listeners. Our bandmates Kenn and Michael couldn’t be here to do this interview with us, however they trust us to represent our band.
PC - We are keen to share about our new album and the journey we’ve taken with recording it. The title of the album, "Beyond Magnificent," is deeply significant to us and reflects a profound truth about God's Holy nature. When we chose this title, we wanted to emphasize that God Almighty is not just magnificent; He is way beyond what we can even begin to comprehend.
We read in places like NLT Isaiah 55:8- “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."
In our creative process, speaking for the band and myself, I think we were and remain inspired by the vastness of creation itself - the beauty and complexity of the world around us - and how it points back to the Creator of the universe. After all we read in Genesis 1:1 how God Almighty created the heavens and the earth. Later on in Colossians 1:16 we receive the added detail that God created “all things” through the living Word which is clearly the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth the living Word the Creator of the universe.
In a way, each new song on the album aims to reveal different aspects of God's magnificence and hopefully encourage listeners to contemplate this grandeur in their own lives. I think I can speak for all of us to say as a band we believe that by recognising the beauty and wonder of creation, we can foster a deeper appreciation for God’s presence and supernatural power as we focus on the Lord Jesus and not the wind and the waves in this fallen world. Especially as we are living in the days of chaos, with planned orchestrated pandemics and civil unrest devised to weaken nations by psychopathic globalist transhumanists who serve the Kingdom of Darkness. Even if we are living in the Days of Noah and Lot the Lord Jesus still has a good plan for those who love and obey Him.
Also I should share that my musical twin Renae tends to be one of the most optimistic people I know, always finding some blessing even in difficult situations reminding us that all things are possible with the Lord Jesus. Between her positive observations, and Kenneth and Michael’s solid rhythm section the entire album just seemed to flow together like turning on a water spigot to quench your thirst. Best to drink the Living water and so never thirst again. (John 4:14)
As the main songwriter, as in the past I tend to pray and play. I mean that I consciously drew from biblical themes and personal experiences, seeking to write and craft music that not only resonates with individuals but also might inspires a sense of corporate worship for an over all reflection on that fact this world is not our home.
We are just passing through on this journey. Obviously our hope as a band is that as people listen to the album, they’ll feel a sense of awe and reverence for God Almighty and be motivated to explore their relationship with Him more deeply, probably in a similar way when people entered some magnificent cathedral for the first time, like Westminster Abbey. I still recall in my youth walking in Westminster Abbey for the first time and felt the Holy Spirit presence. It's such a pity today that religious spirits have infiltrated there and many other houses of worship. 1 Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
Ultimately, "Beyond Magnificent" is an invitation for everyone to look beyond the surface of their everyday lives, to seek out the extraordinary in the ordinary, and to experience the vastness of God’s love and creativity. Besides the fact there is nowhere you can go, where the Lord isn't available. Psalm 139:8 - If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there.
We are actually incredibly grateful for the opportunity we have been granted to share this music with you, and we pray it touches hearts and inspires a deeper faith in Christ.
There's a song on the new album called 'Stay Awake America', and I notice you are quoted in the album press release as saying, "We are all in an information war today and it’s also a war of cosmic biblical prophetic proportions." I have a feeling 'Stay Awake America' is your warning to your fellow Americans about this war?
Renae - On a wider level approach, people tend to fall asleep when things are well and fine. They lose sight of God, they stop praying. They stop being grateful and thankful. They get lazy and lose their fervor. Only when times get tough do they wake up, return to God and pray. It is extremely important for us to constantly keep our eyes open and awake for God, even when times seem grand. Complacency kills. We must always be consistent in prayer and seeking Jesus, making Him first and foremost.
PC - First let me say that I sometimes still miss living in the UK, I miss some of my childhood friends and family as well as riding my horse across the Moors although we keep in touch and we do get back over now and then. I miss all those places we used to play, back when playing original music was the norm regardless of radio plays. Renae got to meet a lot of my old mates last year when we were back over on tour as well as my wife Joan got to travel with us and see old friends and family. So greetings to all loved ones.
Actually, my friend General Michael Flynn had mentioned to me how America needs to stay awake to stay alive which gave me the idea to write this song as we were praying about doing more events and concerts together. The fact that a Three Star General befriended a long hair rock and roller like me must prove God is Almighty. (laughs) He brought our band out to play at the last Reawaken event and gave us a direct order, “to go out there and rock them out!” We said, Yes Sir!
General Flynn is quoted as saying,” Deliver the Truth, Whatever the Cost. “
He is an incredibly bright and godly gentleman who was at the highest level of U.S. intelligence. He is a military genius in my opinion and knew things and secrets the elite Globalist didn’t want revealed, and seeing how he loved the Lord Jesus and was a man of integrity who would not be compromised, they tried to destroy his life and career. The Flynn documentary that came out last year tells of the cloak-and-dagger subterfuge going on and this involves what is going on in the UK as well. It’s really an inspirational story of survival, how he and his family withstood the character assassinations and personal attacks of a corrupt rogue inner government after he exposed such deep-seated corruption within Washington DC’s corridors of power which filters to Parliament and other such places. There is also a song on the new album titled General Flynn, because no one should have to suffer through what he went through so it is our way to help validate a wonderful Christian brother. John 8:32 - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Living in the States is a continual adjustment as it is that we are continually reassessing all the changes in perceptions in the war on information.
For example: The Lord Jesus asked his disciples to stay awake and pray as he was facing the cross to die for the sins of this world and his disciples fell asleep to his great disappointment, not just once but three times. Absolutely Dave, you're hitting on a crucial theme that we explore in 'Stay Awake America.' As America goes, so goes the world. America is standing in the way of the prophesied one world government at the moment. I would say that we are indeed in an information war of cosmic biblical prophetic proportions, as I’m referring to the overwhelming tide of misinformation, disinformation, and disconnection from what truly matters. If people don't understand what is unfolding on the world stage today, they risk losing the plot - losing sight of their purpose here, their morals and values, taking DNA altering injections and what is genuinely important in everyone’s lives to make your peace with the Lord Jesus before it’s too late. Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
The title itself, 'Stay Awake America,' serves as a clarion call to our moral and spiritual consciousness. It echoes the words of the Lord Jesus when he asked his disciples to stay awake and pray during his darkest hour, as he faced the cross. What’s poignant about that moment in scripture is the disappointment he felt when his disciples, his closest friends fell asleep. It's a powerful reminder that in times of great turmoil and challenge, we need to remain vigilant and engaged. In the same way, I believe we must stay awake in our current societal climate, where distractions and false narratives can easily lead us astray.
This song is not just a warning; it’s an invitation to awaken to the realities around us. It’s a challenge to delve deeper into the truth rather than being passive consumers of the propaganda information that bombards us daily. There are so many forces at play: political, social, and spiritual, and they are all interwoven in ways that can confuse and mislead, and God Almighty is not the author of confusion.
It’s easy to get swept away by the worldly noises, of wars and rumours of wars, but true clarity only comes from knowing the Holy Word of God and applying it daily from an active engagement with our surroundings.
Luke 9:23 - Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
Moreover, I believe that if we fail to engage, we risk becoming complacent. Staying awake means being present, being aware, and being informed - not just about the headlines but about the deeper implications behind them. It’s about fostering an understanding of our own responsibility to each other and to our world. We read in places like: NLT Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone - except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
It’s about not only questioning what's being presented to us but also seeking the truth with a commitment to discernment and wisdom.
Ultimately, 'Stay Awake America' is a rallying cry for awareness, prayer, and action. We have discovered if you can activate people locally, you can have a national and international impact.
It is my hope that this song inspires listeners to awaken their minds and hearts to the realities we face as we are living like in the Days of Noah and Lot, reminding them that standing watch, being vigilant, and united in purpose are more crucial now than ever. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to stay awake, if the Lord tarries so that we are to stay engaged, and to keep sharing the Gospel for a better world grounded in truth and compassion. Regardless of when the Lord Jesus returns, we are to fulfill the great commission.
What other themes did you look to address on this new set of songs?
Renea - As previously mentioned by Caspar, this album in many ways has become a tribute to other beautiful people who have passed who have been such a blessing to us musically and in their service to help us. Indeed an album with extra deep heart felt elements.
PC - We recorded a song with my legendary rockstar friend Rick Derringer, called Freedom. Irony is never lost on the British, as I also wrote a song for a friend Dave Donley called Too Young, Dave was re-stringing my guitar before we headed up to perform at Soul Fest in Boston and he passed away just a few hours after I saw him. Rick thought the song was very powerful and a wonderful tribute to a friend. Now Rick has passed away before the album is released. The publicity of Rick Derringers passing has been overwhelming and rightfully so. He has impacted the world of music for generations and has ultimate freedom now. Rick had an amazing run of what the world considers success with worldwide hit records since his teens and playing with such notables as Ringo’s all star band along with Sir. Paul McCartney, Edgar and Johnny Winter’s etc.
Rick had asked me to join his band when we first met and played together many years ago. I feel honoured that his last recorded performance and video was with us a few months ago.
The album ends with a song called 'Psalm 91 Protection'. That often quoted passage says, "I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress'". Tell us a bit about this song and why you felt drawn to write it.
Renae - We are surrounded by many elements of darkness from the enemy. The attacks can be spiritually, physically, mentally. To meditate on Psalm 91 is like putting on a huge cloak over yourself before you go out into the muck and mire of the world. I do this daily and envision just this. Meditating on the word including Psalm 91 keeps your cloak strong.
PC - We live in a fallen world as you jolly well know, and as I keep being invited to share my insights in conferences and podcasts I tend to do a fair amount of research from a biblical perspective, especially as I observe so many ancient prophecies being fulfilled before us today. The world is set up as never before to usher in the Beastly Marking system.
Matthew 24:21- For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Rest assured the globalist, transhumanist psychopaths haven't stopped in their pursuit of their quest to world digitization, dehumanization, direct energy weapon destruction, and depopulation agendas to bring in a one world government. One of the main reasons we are with the Stay Awake America tour, is John 17:17-Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
I don’t particularly enjoy sharing with my church or anyone what nefarious agendas are happening worldwide or already in place. I don’t enjoy telling my children about scary things but it is necessary to warn them to help protect them. In the same way we had to warn them to look both ways before crossing the street.
NLT Ephesians 5:11Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.
That said, I recall reading about a general in WWII who read Psalm 91 over his troops every morning and never lost a soldier in battle.
I just felt lead to sing a psalm of protection over my family and church and wrote Psalm 91 Protection before we finished recording this new album.
Our divine protection ultimately, comes from God Almighty as every breath we breath does. We all face some storms and trials in this life and in any in threatening situations we must deal with during times of physical and spiritual attacks of any kinds, those who put their trust in the Lord Jesus find supernatural peace and protection.
NLT Psalm 18:30 - God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
Psalm 32:7 - For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude Psalm 18:35- You have given me your shield of victory.
Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.
36 You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.
Psalm 119:114 You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.
Throughout the Holy Scripture, God Almighty used numerous ways of protecting His people, including sending some of his Holy angels.
NLT Psalm 121:7- The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.
We are assured that the God Almighty who watches over us will keep us from harm and that like any good parent; He oversees all our activities now and forever.
I am reminded of how those three young men Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the account we read in Daniel 3 is such an awesome example for us today, how they refused to bow down to an idol and insane mandates. How they stayed in faith even to the point of certain death being thrown into a blazing fire. Nevertheless, because of their devoted faith in the Lord not a hair on their heads was singed by the fire. King Nebuchadnezzar and his administration were totally amazed to see a forth person had joined them in the fire. Nebuchadnezzar calls them to come out and declares from now on they will serve the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, since this God was profoundly more powerful then the ones they had been following.
Considering they only had a portion of the Holy Bible, we are without excuse not to place our total trust and faith in the Lord Jesus. Mind you, God Almighty’s promise of protection does not guarantee that we will never know pain and losses in our life. Sometimes the Lord uses trials to purify us like He did in the account of Job who continued to trust the Lord throughout a season a great troubles and was restored in the end as he remained in faith. We are even instructed to “count it pure joy” going through difficult times because, sometimes the Lord tests our faith to help us develop a deeper faith and trust so that we persevere through troubles and mature to be more and more Christ like.
NLT James 1:2- Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
In other words divine protection for us from trials we go through is not always beneficial to us.
Also, God Almighty does not always shield us from the consequences of our own sins or the negative effects of the sins of others.
Our world is fallen, with all the good things we all still must endure its hardships. Many Spirit-filled born again Christians in endure persecution as we read in 2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
The Lord Jesus/Yeshua assured His disciples then and now, John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
In every situation we face, God Almighty remains in control, and all our sufferings have a limit on them, for the Lord our God will not allow us to be tested beyond our ability to bear it. We read in 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
In fact the Lord created nations with boundaries for a good reason. For example we read in;
NLT Jeremiah 5:22 Have you no respect for me?
Why don’t you tremble in my presence?
I, the Lord, define the ocean’s sandy shoreline
as an everlasting boundary that the waters cannot cross.
The waves may toss and roar,
but they can never pass the boundaries I set.
If we are a child of God let us respond to all things in ways that please our Lord Jesus.
I think we ought to understand that the Lord’s promise of protection is not as much a promise of physical protection as it is on God’s spiritual protection against the enemies of our soul.
This must be why the Lord our God has given us the spiritual armor we read about in Ephesians chapter six to help guard our hearts and minds, spirits and souls and focus on the Lord Jesus for all we think, say and do.
After all we read in NLT Philippians 4:7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus..
The essence of God’s divine protection is really the eternal indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
NLT Ephesians 2:21 - We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22 Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.
The Apostle Paul revealed this for us in NLT 2 Timothy 4:18 Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen. Because everything begins with a thought, we should think about things that please the Lord.
Just as the Globalist transhumanist psychopaths today are probably manifesting the same demonic spirits that were in the Roman leaders the Apostle Paul is saying they can do their evil deeds, they can try their depopulation agendas, nevertheless we in Christ have this confidence that “to be absent from our physical body [is] to be present with the Lord Jesus.” NLT 2 Corinthians 5:8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord..
As true born again Spirit-filled believers we are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of final glorification, and nothing can brake that Holy seal as we read in places like; Ephesians 1:13 - in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Regardless of how things play out on the world stage in near future or what happens in this world as we draw closer to the time the Lord forewarned us about that unless He intervenes on our behalf there be no flesh left according to; Matthew 24:22- And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Let us understand that Heaven is ultimately our home, we are just passing through this fallen world.
Back in February 1975 a conference was held in California, called the Asilomar Conference on Recombinant DNA. It was an incredibly influential conference organised by Paul Berg, and Maxine Singer, along with their colleagues to discuss the potential biohazards and regulation of biotechnology. However, what happened in 1975 was they began to launch their plans and agendas to genetically modify all life upon the face of the earth, so that all people, animals and plants would be recreated in the way they the Globalists desire it to be whilst destroying God’s creation.
The ancient Prophetic Signs unfolding upon the world stage today tell us about the lateness of the hour. I pray that you receive God Almighty’s supernatural peace.
NLT Jeremiah 17:8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
I pray all of you draw nearer to the Lord Jesus each day and trust in His divine plans and protection over your life and that of your loved ones, and that He works in us knowing that He will accomplish the destiny He has for each of us who love Him.
NLT Romans 8:28 - And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
There are a couple of new names featured on this album, talk us through who you worked with this time around?
Renae - We are very blessed to have Michael Adams on drums. He's a wonderful fit for our group. Kenneth has been with us for a while now and he adds such a wonderful element to the group. I love his spirit filled "pizzazz."
PC - The only change we made was bringing in our newest member Michael Adams on drums. Michael is also a multitalented musician and played mandolin on Psalm 91 Protection as well as percussion. He can play guitars and bass as well, just as Renae can play most string instruments as well as sax and accordion. Michael and Kenneth had been working together for ages so they are an amazing tight rhythm machine together. When our drummer Carlos couldn’t make several concerts last year, Michael stepped in and learned our entire show in a few days. He is a very quick study, and simply fit jolly well into what we are doing as a band. And of course we had Rick Derringer recording with us on Freedom.
I understand you guys are taking these songs out on tour? Where can people catch you?
Renea - We are indeed on the move as to hitting some more concert dates! Looking forward to spreading the message to others.
PC - We are hoping to be playing in numerous events and concerts and should be announced on our website. casparmccloudmusic.com
What's the next project for Caspar McCloud Band?
Renae - Domination in spreading of the light of Jesus to the masses!
PC - Actually we already have our next album pretty much planned and have quite a few songs mixed already so hopefully we are looking at a winter release.
