KXC Worship Release 'Wholly & Completely'
In February 2023, KXC’s lead pastor (Pete Hughes) and worship pastor (Rich di Castiglione) travelled out to Kentucky to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit among students at Asbury University. They saw students being set free from shame, anxiety and addictions as they encountered the love of God in such profound ways. One of the hallmarks of that move was a renewed desire for consecration and undivided devotion to God among Gen Z.
A few days after getting back from that trip, we hosted a KXC songwriting day and invited the writers in our church to lean into those same themes of holiness and consecration. In one of the sessions Ellie McClune brought the simple phrase - ‘I want to be wholly and completely yours’ that became the seed for the rest of the song written together with Rich, Jean du Rand and Joel Clements.
‘Wholly & Completely’ is an overwhelmingly simple song that reflects on the beauty of God’s holiness and a desire to live out our lives with undivided devotion to him. In this live recording, the crowd carries this song from a tender whisper into an explosive cry of devotion. On this single we also have a second track (Highest Praise) that flowed spontaneously out of the first song. The words echo the throne room scene in Revelation 5 where all creatures are crying out in adoration - ‘blessing and honour, glory and power, it all belongs to you’.
"We recorded this song live at our weekly worship and prayer night - Seek First. Every Monday, loads of young people gather to cry out to God and pray for our local area and beyond. The unity, passion and presence of God in the room is profound and often overwhelming. We were able to capture something of that with a live recording using all of our in-house production team. This is the penultimate single from a forthcoming album that was all recorded at Seek First."
KXC Worship is based at King’s Cross Church (KXC), a thriving church in the heart of London. The vision of KXC is to serve God’s purpose to make all things new, by recklessly giving ourselves away to God in worship, each other in community and the people of King’s Cross and beyond.
"In the coming months we’re going to be releasing songs from ‘Seek First Sessions’ a new album of live worship recorded at our weekly worship and prayer nights. The album features 12 tracks including ‘O God Would You Move’, ‘Moth to a Flame’ and loads of spontaneous moments. It’s the sound of a church community coming alive in worship and discovering more of what it means to contend in prayer."
