Brian Doerksen Releases New Single 'If Jesus Is The Face of God'
Renowned songwriter, recording artist, author, conference speaker and pastor Brian Doerksen has released a new single, titled 'If Jesus Is The Face of God', from his latest album 'Grateful'. The album was released in October 2017 and contains 12 new original songs including 'Scars On His Hands', 'Micah Six Eight', 'Everlasting Arms' and a cover of the beautiful Scottish hymn 'We Cannot Measure How You Heal.'
'If Jesus Is The Face of God' is a simple, sing-able song about how much we are loved by God. If Jesus came to show us what God is like and how He feels about us, we can have confidence that no matter who we are, even without any accomplishments or doing anything sensational, we are loved.
Brian Doerksen (writer of ‘Come now is the time to worship’) wrote this song after struggling through a multi-year season of disorientation and depression after the church he helped lead was torn apart by conflict. When he lost belief in himself, he slowly began to realize that God still believed in him. He read about the ways Jesus encountered people who were disregarded and marginalized and imagined that Jesus was conveying to each of them that He believed in them; that they were worth loving and that the life and opportunities that lay ahead of them were good. This confidence and hope comes through powerfully in this song as Brian is joined by special guest Marcus Mosely and his gospel Ensemble.
Brian Doerksen’s songs are known and sung in faith communities around the world. Songs like ‘Come, now is the time to worship’, ‘Faithful One’, ‘Refiner’s Fire’, ‘Hallelujah (Your love is amazing)’ and ‘The River.’ In 2007, Brian received six Covenant Awards (Canada’s Gospel Music Association Awards) including “Artist of the year”, “Album of the year” & “Song of the Year”’ for ‘Holy God’.
